With the goal to steer clear from furniture and functionality, and explore more formal and aesthetic qualities in my material, I tasked myself with making one wooden sculpture each day, drawing inspiration from an every-day object I’m sure we’ve all come across – the coffee mixing stick.

Each day I would play with the used stick: chewing it, snapping it, tearing it and twisting it, until I felt it was “done”. Then I would study the small deformed piece of birch veneer and try to carry some of its essence, its feeling into that day’s sculpture.

I ended up making a total of twenty one pieces in this series, discovering a little something new with each one.
