This is the second prototype design in my quest to make a wooden guitar capo based on the Tvingman wooden clamp mechanism.
Beautifully crafted in contrasting woods of ash and walnut, with thin strips of leather on the jaws to mimic the texture of skin pressing down on the strings.
I put a lot of love and care into making these.
To increase friction between the capo’s top jaw and walnut spine, I added small bits of coarse sandpaper within the chamber of the top jaw.
These act like small teeth that bite into the spine when the top jaw is perpendicular to it.
Similarly to teeth, care should be taken as to not grind them unnecessarily against the spine.
I’ve been using mine frequently on an acoustic steel string for a little over a year now (written March 2025) and it still works great!
